PM Nawaz leaves for home after China visit

BEIJING/ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has left for Pakistan after his three-day visit to China, ARY News reported.

A contingent of People’s Liberation Army presented a salute to the Prime Minister at the Beijing International Airport.

China on Saturday promised Pakistan of investing worth $42 billion. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif oversaw the signing of 19 agreements and memorandums bases on the energy sector before he met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

During the meeting with Chinese President, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan would help China with its fight against extremists, which Beijing says were active in its unruly far western region of Xinjiang.

Pakistan will increase its coordination with China on Afghanistan too, so as to “jointly maintain regional peace and stability”, Sharif said.

Pakistan will also do all it can to guarantee the safety of Chinese companies and workers in the country, he added, who have in the past been attacked by militants.
