PM Nawaz should know the arsonists within party, says Aitzaz

ISLAMABAD: Senator Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should investigate whether the “arsonists” are within his party ranks or not, ARY News reports.

Earlier, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had accused Aitzaz Ahsan of being a member of a land mafia group.

Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, addressing the joint session of the Parliament in Islamabad on Friday (today), said that he has been in politics for more than 50 years.

He added that his forefathers had struggled for Pakistan’s independence. He said he spent several years in prison for opposing former military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq.

“I had also played a small role in the movement against former President Pervez Musharraf”, he added.

Aitzaz Ahsan further said that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan did not change his stance even after Nawaz Sharif apologized to him over a telephone call.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator added that he was thankful to the premier for apologizing to him over the remarks made by his minister.

He asked that for how long Nawaz Sharif will defend his interior minister.

“They talk about me as being a lawyer for land mafia groups. In this way, my clients also include PM Nawaz Sharif, former Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and others”, Aitzaz said.

He further said that Chaudhry Nisar accused him of taking a quota of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG). He added that Nisar, who has also served as petroleum minister, should know that LPG was de-regulated.

“They are telling me to stay quiet but they add fuel to the fire themselves”, he added.

He said that he knows that all the opposition members, apart from Qaumi Watan Party leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, will walk out of the Parliament House with him if he tells them.

I have been in opposition even against my own party during the Lawyers Movement, Aitzaz added.
