PM Nawaz terms Altaf Hussain’s apology ‘a good gesture’

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday while appreciating MQM Chief Altaf Hussain for tendering an apology over his anti-army statement said “It is a good gesture”, ARY News reported.

In a statement today, PM Nawaz said such harsh statements not only damage dignity of national institutions but also hurt the feelings of general public.

“It is responsibility of the government to safeguard respect and honour of the armed forces of the country”, he added.

The Prime Minister also urged media to follow the code of conduct showing responsible attitude in its reports. He advised media to avoid publication or broadcast of irresponsible statements.

Nawaz Sharif said matters related to national institutions are very sensitive and should be handled with care.
