The two leaders would hold discussions on enhancement of bilateral relations and global and international issues of mutual interest.

President Erdogan had earlier visited Lahore and Islamabad in December 2013 as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey. It was his seventh visit to Pakistan in the last ten years, signifying strengthening of bilateral relations under his government. This would be his first visit to Islamabad as the President of Turkey.

The bilateral relations of Pakistan with Turkey have seen tremendous improvement under Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government as both sides eager to translate their cordial relations into a durable strategic and economic partnership.
