PM returns after 48 days stay in London

Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana, Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, federal ministers Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Saad Rafique, provincial ministers, senior party leaders including Chairman PML-N, Senator Raja Zafar ul Haq and other high officials were present at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport to receive the prime minister.

Citing security threats, a huge police contingent was deployed around the airport.

According to reports, around 22, 000 police personnel have been deputed from the airport to his residence, Jati Umra, under the supervision of CPO Lahore.

Earlier, while talking to media persons in London before leaving for home, Sharif thanked the nation for praying for his good health. He also prayed for the security of Pakistan and well-being of the nation.

The prime minister also paid tribute to renowned philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi who passed away in Karachi on Friday evening.

He said that Edhi served humanity and the downtrodden people till his last breath. He added that he wished to attend the deceased social worker’s funeral prayers but his medical condition not allowing him to do so.

Nawaz Sharif had departed for London for the operation on 22nd May and underwent a successful cardiac surgery at London’s Harley Street Hospital on 31st May.

He is returning to the country along with 24 members of his family via a special flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
