PM Sharif, COAS discuss situation after Shuja Khanzada’s killing

The meeting between the civil-military leadership was focused on security situation, operation Zarb-e-Azb, the martyrdom of Home Minister Punjab Shuja Khanzada in a suicide attack on Sunday and recent actions against terrorists.

During the meeting presided by PM Sharif in Islamabad, it was decided to speed up implementation of next phase of the National Action Plan (NAP).

The six-hour-long meeting was attended by the COAS Raheel Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi which reviewed internal security of state, war against terrorism and progress in implementation of NAP.

Officials briefed the meeting on successful implementation of NAP and measures to be taken further.

The meeting also discussed 50 years celebrations of the Defence Day to be held on September 6.

Meanwhile, PM Nawaz Sharif summoned the meeting of Sindh Apex Committee to review Karachi’s situation, which, according to sources, will make some important decisions pertaining to the megapolis.

The prime minister will preside the apex committee meeting on Thursday, during which the authorities will ponder upon MQM reservations and formation of a monitoring committee on Karachi Operation.
