PM Sharif to visit US from Oct 20 to 23, tells FO

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be visiting the United States (US) from October 20 to 23, while Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani has also been invited by the premier to visit the country, said the Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday.

While briefing the media, FO spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said that PM Sharif in his meeting with President Obama will discuss the regional situation.

The visit will be focused on restoration of national economy and other key issues, he added.

Khalilullah said that the prime minister has also invited Hurriyat Leader Syed Ali Geelani to visit Pakistan.

Speaking about the return of mute Indian girl Geeta who is currently staying at a charity in Pakistan, he said: “The girl has identified her family and we are awaiting a reply from India”.

He reiterated Pakistan’s concerns over attempts to disrupt Pakistanis’ events in India.

Commenting on Indian subversive activities in Pakistan, the spokesman said Pakistan has already provided the United Nations (UN) with three dossiers carrying relative evidences, as well as apprised it of the border violations.
