PM thanks intelligence officials for arresting Mardan court attackers

ISLAMABAD: Five terrorists involved in the bombing of Mardan’s district courts which resulted in deaths of 14 innocent people on the 2nd September have been apprehended.

According to the PM House statement, the arrested terrorists revealed during the interrogation four more terror plots that were subsequently thwarted by the security forces, saving hundreds of precious lives.

The statement added: “The prime minister thanks the premier intelligence agency for their hard work and congratulate them on their success on foiling extremist terrorism and putting us one step closer to a safe and secure Pakistan.”


At least 14 killed, 60 injured in Mardan suicide blast


 A suicide bomber blew himself at the gate of district court Mardan in which at least 14 people were killed and 60 others were reported injured on September 2. An eye-witness said that the suicide bomber opened fire before blowing up his explosives.

The terrorists also lodged hand grenades and opened fire before blowing himself up. The bomber tried to enter the court premises, but faced stiff resistance from the policemen at the gate after which he exploded his suicide vest.
