PM vows to clean Pakistan of Polio within six months

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has vowed to clean Pakistan from the Polio virus within six months, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Sharif was speaking during the meeting of the steering committee for eradication of Polio.

All four Chief Ministers, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed were present in the meeting.

UNICEF, World Health Organization (WHO), World Bank (WB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) officials also attended the meeting.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Japan have pledged to provide Rs. 37.55 billion aid to Pakistan to get rid of the crippling Polio virus.
