PM welcomes Sri Lankan President at Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD: Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Sunday reached Islamabad airport on his first visit to Pakistan, he was welcomed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other dignitaries, ARY News reported.

According to details, President Maithripala Sirisena reached Islamabad airport on Sunday evening, where he was welcomed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif himself.

On the occasion, PM’s aide on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz was also present along with several other dignitaries.

Upon his arrival, the Sri Lankan President was presented a 21-canon salute. This is the first visit of the newly elected President Sirisena to Pakistan.

The Sri Lankan President is likely to hold meetings with the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, President Mamnoon Hussain and other key ministers.

During his visit to Pakistan, he is also expected to sign different memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and bilateral agreements.
