The LG polls were held in 42 out of 43 cantonment areas that were divided in 199 wards. The polls in Balochistan’s Ormara cantonment could not take place due to dispute over land demarcation.
According to unofficial results, the PML-N secured 68 seats, PTI managed to get 42 seats while MQM got third position with 19 seats.
In continuation of party standings in the LG poll results, PPP bagged seven seats, Jamaat-e-Islami five, ANP two while 57 independent candidates were also declared successful.
The PML-N made a clean sweep in Rawalpindi by securing all 10 seats. Similarly the N-league got nine seats from Chaklala.
In Multan, PML-N and PTI got three seats each out of total 10. While independents bagged four seats from the city.
MQM gained 16 seats out of 32 in Karachi cantonment areas. The party got six seats from Hyderabad, followed by three PPP and one seat was secured by an independent candidate. The PTI also succeeded in getting three seats from the Sindh capital.
The independents got secured eight seats out of total nine in Balochistan.
