Sources said it’s after almost 17 years that MQM and PML-N contacted at leadership level.

Shahbaz contacted Mr. Hussain to seek MQM’s support for PML-N’s candidate for top Senate slots.

During the conversation, the Punjab CM urged the MQM chief to support his party in electing Senate’s chairman and deputy chairman..

MQM currently holds eight seats in the Senate, hence its support to any party for top Senate positions will be crucial.

The MQM chief replied that party’s coordination committee will look into the matter and decide accordingly.

Earlier, Shahbaz also inquired after the health of Mr. Hussain.
