PML-N upsets PTI in NA-137 by-elections

NANKANA SAHIB: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate, Dr Shezreh Mansab on Sunday won the by-elections from the National Assembly constituency NA-137, Nankana Sahib, ARY News reported.

According to the unofficial and unconfirmed results, PML-N’s Dr Shezreh Mansab stood victorious in the by-elections in NA-137 by securing 70,890 votes.

Her opponent, independent candidate Brigadier (R) Aijaz Shah – backed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) – made it to the runner-up’s slot. Shah bagged 39,635 votes.

After the Sunday’s blasts at two churches in Lahore, polling was suspended at polling stations falling in the areas with majority of Christians as residents, due to riots.

The winning candidate, Dr Shezreh Mansab postponed the celebrations of her victory due to the suicide blasts at churches.

She thanked the voters for casting their votes in her favor and expressed her determination to conform to their expectations.
