Police arrest facilitator of Sehwan terror attack

SUKKUR: Sindh Police on Saturday claimed to have made progress in the terror attack at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan and arrested an allegedly facilitator from Khairpur.

Inspector General Sindh A.D. Khawaja during a briefing to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah during a high-level meeting said that they have made headway in the investigation and are closer to arresting the facilitators of the terror attack.

The chief minister had directed the result-oriented action should be taken against the terror facilitators of the barbaric attack which killed over 88 and injured 320 people. He also called for a  complete investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Later police claimed to have arrested a facilitator from Khairpur. The suspected reportedly belongs to the Hafeez Brohi group in Shikarpur, which was affiliated with the proscribed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and had recently pledged allegiance to ISIS.

It has also been learned that the suicide vest used in the Sehwan attack was also prepared in Shikarpur. The Hafeez Brohi group was also reportedly involved in the blast in Shikarpur in January 2015 which killed over 60 worshipers.
