According to details, police personnel raided a house in Nawab town where a marriage function was arranged to marry off an eight year old girl Sumera with a 20 year old youth Khizer.
Police arrested the bridegroom and girl’s father Abbas along with the marriage solemnizer (Nikah Khawan).
The bride was also taken into custody and later handed over to the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau.
Police had registered a case against the suspects under the Child Marriage Restraint Act on the complaint of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau
