Police foil bid to smuggle huge arms cache in Lahore

LAHORE: Police on Friday foiled a bid to smuggle huge cache of arms to different parts of Punjab and arrested eight suspects in Lahore, ARY News reported.

CCPO Lahore Amin Wains presented the seized weapons and arrested suspects before the media shortly afterwards.

Speaking at the presser, he told that the arms cache comprised of nearly a hundred rifles and handguns, and 24,000 live rounds. The arms were being smuggled into different parts of Punjab from Darra Adam Khel.

The arrested suspects included Haji Khan, Sehr Gul, Mubashir Hussain, Zohaib Hassan, Rana Adil, Shah, Dilawar and Sabir Rehman.

Wains added that police are quite close to the network behind attacks on media houses and soon the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

He said that the banned Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) has no existence in Lahore, adding that the crackdown against illegal arms will continue and the citizens will be provided complete security.
