Police guns down two militants in Karachi encounter

KARACHI: Police on Saturday gunned down two militants of banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) near Super Highway here, ARY News reported.

According to details, a police squad led by SSP Malir Rao Anwar conducted raid in Gaddap near new Sabzi Mandi of Karachi and killed two terrorists in an encounter.

SSP Rao Anwar has confirmed that the two slain militants were members of a banned outfit.

“A slain terrorist was identified as Commander Shahzad Ali, who was an escaped prisoner”, told Rao Anwar.

He said accused Shahzad Ali traveled to Karachi after escaping from Dera Ismail Khan Jail but later he[Shahzad Ali] surrendered himself to Karachi Police for drug smuggling charges in order to get rid of targeted operation.

The accused was later released on bail and was planing to conduct acts of terrorism in Karachi, he added.
