Police kill eight ‘terrorists’ in Karachi ‘encounter’

KARACHI: Police on Monday claimed to have gunned down eight ‘terrorists’ linked with a banned outfit in an ‘encounter’ in Karachi, ARY News reported.

SSP Rao Anwar said that the law enforcers conducted a raid in Pipri area of district Malir upon the identification of former Lashkar e Jhangvi (LeJ) chief Naeem Bukhari, who is currently held under custody and charged with planning Hyderabad jailbreak.

The suspected terrorists opened fire as they sighted cops, however eight of them were killed in retaliation, Anwar said.

A few of them (suspect) managed to flee from there, he added.

Two cops were also said to be wounded in the gunbattle.
