Police officer shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: A Police officer was shot dead on Thursday evening by unknown men at a check post near Chiniot hospital in Korangi, ARY News reported.

Senior Superintendent Police Noman Siddiqui  confirmed the killing of Shehzad, and ordered that the killers should be arrested soon.

The police officer was shifted to Jinnah Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries. Dr. Seemi Jamali, the incharge of the hospital emergence ward, also confirmed the killing and said that he was fired at from a close range.

SSP Korangi further said Shahzad was killed while going home after performing his duty. Police officials reached the site of the incident to collect evidence for further investigation.

Later, Inspector General Sindh took notice of the killing and ordered a detail report while calling for the prompt arrest of the killers.
