Police raid ‘Gutka’ factory in Karachi

According to details, police raided a Gutka factory in Landhi area and recovered almost three tonnes of Gutka and harmful material used in making of the harmful tobacco substance.

A total number of 30 people were arrested from the premises.

Police sources say that the factory used to supply Gutka across Karachi. Raids will be conducted for the arrest of factory owners after interrogating the arrested lot, the sources said.

Gutka is a preparation of crushed betel nut, tobacco, catechu, paraffin, slaked lime and sweet or savory flavorings.

Despite ban and campaigns against the hazardous Gutka, the injurious substance is being sold at thousands of ‘paan shops’ in Karachi uninterruptedly.
