Police 'torture' of MLO pushes doctors to quit duties

TOP NEWS

Addressing a press conference here, MLO Dr Shehzad Ali accused that the plain-clothed cops picked him up from his residence last night and later released after subjecting to ‘severe torture’.

He went on to say that the policemen deleted ‘important documentary files’ stored in his lap-top.

At this, doctors at different hospitals in Karachi quit post-mortem and other formalities in protest against police brutality.

Meanwhile, the CM Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah took notice of the incident and ordered the police to probe the matter, and to present the inquiry report to him.

The Additional IG Karachi has formed an inquiry committee headed by the DIG South to probe the matter.

Police said that after transparent investigations into the event, an action will be taken against those responsible.
