PPP lawyers will meet to address military courts issue: Aitzaz

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan has said that a meeting of the senior PPP lawyers will be held on Monday to discuss and address the issue of the constitutionality of the military courts, ARY News reported.

Aitzaz Ahsan was speaking in a seminar in Lahore, organized by the Lahore chapter of PPP on the 7th death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Senator Ahsan said that the leadership and the workers of People’s Party have suffered most in terrorism incidents.

He said the party have strong reservations over the establishment of the military courts.

Aitzaz Ahsan said that the government is saying that the judges of the civil courts being intimidated with threats over the enforcement of the Protection of Pakistan Ordinance.

Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan informed that a meeting of the senior party lawyers has been summoned on Monday to address the PPP reservations over the formation of the military courts.

PPP leader Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas and other leaders also addressed the seminar.
