LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has deferred decision to include senior Pakistan People’s Party leader Raja Riaz into PTI over difference of opinion on the matter in party, ARY News reported.

Earlier, Riaz met Khan today and discussed in detail political situation with him.

Sources informed that Riaz, former opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, had decided to defect to PTI.

It is learnt that he would announce his joining to PTI in Faisalabad rally. But PTI had recently postponed its rally in Faisalabad on Sunday (May 15) following mistreatment of women at Lahore public gathering.

Party’s spokesperson stated that the party does not trust Punjab Police with rally’s security anymore. Raja Riaz, who also remain People’s Party Punjab President, had been quite vocal in the media defending Asif Ali Zardari-led PPP.

In January this year, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had taken exceptions to his party leaders in Punjab, saying they are not working “dedicatedly”.

PPP leader Raja Riaz had urged Bilawal to come to Faisalabad as local people were looking forward to his visit. The PPP chairman responded sharply: “Raja sahib, I will surely visit Faisalabad, but would you tell me about your own performance.”

Riaz was stumped for some moments. Bilawal reportedly had made it clear to Punjab party leaders that whosoever maintains a distance with masses will no longer be required in the party.
