PPP saved 'democracy' not the present government: Wattoo

LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo claimed on Tuesday that PPP avoided ‘Dharna’ politics to save democracy not the present government, ARY News reported.

Talking to media after meeting PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Wattoo said that if PPP would have joined the ‘politics of sit-in’ a non-democratic system would have replaced the present government clarifying that his party only saved ‘democracy’ not the present government.

The PPP Punjab President pointed out that people of Pakistan had to face crisis after crisis due to the present government’s incompetence and stressed upon the opposition parties to play their role.

Meanwhile PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat accused the Punjab government of dropping various welfare oriented projects just because they were initiated by former Punjab chief minister and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

Both the politicians met to discuss strategy for contesting the upcoming senate elections.
