A FIR was registered under Section 9 of the Anti-Terrorism Act against Qari Abubakar at Kot Radha Kishan police station on a complaint of a sub-inspector.

The prosecution said that the prayer leader was inciting people against a religious sect and he was arrested on the spot.

The prosecution side also produced the video recording of the speech in the court hearing.

Accused Qari Abubakar denied the charge and pleaded that he did not attend the gathering. The defence counsel said that police was implicating his client in a fabricated case and requested the court to acquit him.

Judge Haroon Latif sentenced Abubakar to five-year term.

According to sources, 21 people have been convicted this year over delivering hate speeches.
