Top cops at Preedy police station face life risk

KARACHI: Taking charge of Karachi’s Preedy police station has become a challenge for police officials as three of its station house officers (SHOs) have been shot dead during recent years, ARY News reported.

On April 9, 2013, then SHO Preedy Agha Asad was killed in Saddar area after his gunman ‘accidentally’ fired his weapon. Investigation team had later arrested the guard of slain SHO on suspicion.

On August 13, 2014, SHO Ghazanfar Kazmi fell prey to terrorists’ firing near Anklesaria hospital.

Police later arrested his murderer from Saeedabad area of Baldia Town. Earlier to this Preedy police vans have also been targeted with grenade attacks and firing for at least three times.

The recent incident of the bloody series took place today, when unknown assailants shot SHO Aijaz Akhtar Khawaja dead in Akhter Colony.

He received multiple shots in head and chest and could not sustain the deadly wounds.

Sources told that Khawaja was working on some high-profile cases.
