Premier, Saudi Defence Minister pledge to improve bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Saudi Defence Minister and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz al Saud pledged on Sunday to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries and strengthen cooperation in diverse fields.

The Saudi Defence Minister, who has left for his country after a short visit to Pakistan, called upon the prime minister at the official residence in the federal capital and discussed varying regional and international issues.

The Saudi minister also called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif late Sunday, said a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.

During their meeting, the two officials discussed regional security matters with particular focus on the Middle East, issues of bilateral relations including defence cooperation and collaboration.

The Saudi Defence Minister and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz arrived in Pakistan on August 28 for a short yet important visit.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, federal ministers and other high-ranking members of Saudi Embassy in Pakistan, received him at the capital airport upon his arrival.
