This will be the third consecutive address of President Hussain, which will be presided over by Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq.

President Hussain will highlight the performance of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government along with elaborating the challenges the country face, including terrorism and extremism.

He will also shed light on the major achievements by the security forces in the war against terror.

Hussain is also expected to take the parliamentarians into confidence over the steps taken to improve the economic health of the country, while overcoming the issue of energy shortage at the same time.

It is mandatory for the President under the Pakistani Constitution to address a joint session of the parliament at the start of a new parliamentary year, a tradition started under the regime of former military ruler Zia-ul-Haq in the year 1985.
