President Mamnoon leaves for Azerbaijan

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain left for a four-day state visit to Azerbaijan on Wednesday (today), ARY News reports.

Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev will hold talks on the promotion of bilateral cooperation in including trade, defence, science and technology.

Four Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) will also be signed between the two countries during the Pakistani President’s visit.

Hussain will confer Pakistan’s prestigious civil award Hilal-e-Pakistan to Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyev for her foundation’s assistance to the earthquake victims of Pakistan.

Around 100,000 people were killed in a devastating earthquake which jolted the northern areas of Pakistan in October 2005. The high intensity quake had an intensity of 7.4 on the Richter scale.

Azerbaijan’s President will also host a reception the honour of his Pakistani counterpart.
