Probable Team Pakistan for World Cup 2015

TOP NEWS

In spite of being banned from bowling, all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is expected to be a part of the final squad as specialist batsman alongside opener Ahmed Shahzad.

All-rounder Haris Sohail has impressed many during the series against New Zealand last month in UAE.

The tournament Down Under give some privilege to pacers as four of them namely Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Wahab Riaz and Ehsan Adil are expected to take the flight for Australia and New Zealand.

However, former Test cricketer and chief Selector Salahuddin Ahmed Sallu has opined that experienced Mohammad Sami should be taken with the team. Sami was not in the thirty-member initial list but his recent performance in Pentangular Cup has impressed many.

Youngster Mohammad Rizwan also has prospects for dream call for World Cup as he stands a better chance as compared to Umar and Kamran Akmal.

After some good showings in the ongoing Pentangular Cup, it is expected with some doubt that former skipper Shoaib Malik could be called. However, the last ODI he played was in June 2013 and lack of international action recently could go against him.

Spinner Raza Hasan, after his five-wicket haul in Pentangular Cup, hopes to find a place in the squad. But Yasir Shah, who performed well in UAE would be likely choice.

Probable World Cup Squad:

Ahmed Shahzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Rizwan, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq (Captain), Haris Sohail, Fawad Alam, Shahid Afridi, Sarfraz Ahmed (WC), Anwar Ali, Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Wahab Riaz, Ehsan Adil, Yasir Shah.
