Probe against Rana Mashood underway after more ‘proofs’: NAB

LAHORE: Director General National Accountability Bureau Lahore Syed Burhan has said that investigations against Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashood are underway after more evidences surfaced against him, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media here, the DG NAB said more evidences had surfaced against Mr. Mashood leading to expansion in scope of the probe.

He informed that probe against two government officials belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had also begun after complaints of corruption were received against them. He, however, declined to name the two officials.

The footage of the Punjab minister, taking bribes from an owner of visa consultancy firm Asim Malik, was aired in ARY News program on August 13, 2014.

The NAB also received complaints against the minister for his alleged role in financial irregularities in the Punjab Youth Festival.

Reports were also going rounds that resignation of Mr. Mashood could also be sought if charges against him stand proved.
