PTI announces candidates for Senate elections

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday announced its candidates that will be contesting the Senate, ARY News reports.

Noman Wazir and Latif Yusufzai have been given party tickets for technocrat seats whereas Samina Abid and Rabiya Basra will contest the elections for the women seats.

Mohsin Aziz, Syed Shibli Faraz, Fazal Mohammad Khan and Barrister Salman Afridi will contest the polls on general seats whereas John Kenneth Williams and Ravi Kumar will contest the Senate election for the minority seats.

Sources said that PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President and General Secretary Azam Swati and Khalid Masood have not been given tickets to contest the elections.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan had said that his party will contest the polls for the Parliament’s upper house but will not return to the assemblies until the judicial commission is formed to probe the alleged rigging in the general elections of 2013.
