PTI councilor among four dead in Mardan clash

MARDAN: Four people including a local body representative of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) were killed and five others wounded following an armed clash between two political groups here on Friday, ARY News reported.

The incident took place in Hoti in outskirts of the city where Tehsil Councilor of PTI, Mohmand Khan, was going to attend a rally along with friends that they came across some members of rival political party.

An altercation between the two sides triggered an exchange of gunfire that resulted in seriously injuring four people including Khan. They were taken to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Five people including two passersby were also wounded during the episode. They are at present being treated at different hospitals in the city.

The assailants managed to escape after the incident, while the FIR of it has not yet been lodged by the police.

The area remains relatively tensed and a situation of uncertainty persists after the bloody clash.
