ISLAMABAD: Veteran politician Javed Hashmi said on Wednesday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has lost many opportunities by not utilising the state forums properly.

Hashmi, speaking during ARY News program ‘Off the Record’, said that “instead of the Supreme Court, the party was setting up Terms of References,  and then rather than the parliament it resorted to street protests.”

Hashmi, who parted ways with the PTI in 2014, said the upcoming year was an election year, and it was unlikely that the parliament will criminalise the prime minister through a resolution.

However, Hashmi said that opposition had the right to put forward its demands in the parliament, and different world parliaments had seen far worse ruckus than one created in the National Assembly today.

“What the opposition is doing is nothing wrong,” he said. However, he expressed dissatisfaction that parliamentarians had stepped out and were discussing the issues on talk shows.
