PTI resolution seeks extension in Rangers’ policing powers
KARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly seeking extension in policing powers of Pakistan Rangers Sindh which expired on January 15.
MPA and PTI Vice President Karachi Khurram Sherzaman submitted the resolution to the assembly’s secretary to move the resolution under Rule 256 of the Rules and Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh 2016.
The resolution calls on the government of Sindh to extend the policing powers of the Rangers, which should cover the entire province of Sindh, and not just restricted to Karachi. It recommends that the policing powers should be extended for a longer period such as one year instead of a quarterly basis.
The resolution expresses appreciation of the efforts and services of the Pakistan Rangers during the current Karachi operation, which have brought a vast improvement in the law and order situation.
