PTI sacks all office-bearers, calls for intraparty elections

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has delayed its decision of a return to assemblies until the formation of a judicial commission to probe electoral rigging is not notified, ARY News reported.

According to details, a key meeting of the party held consultation over the formation of the judicial commission, decision of rejoining the assemblies and the new intraparty elections.

The party conditionalized its return to assemblies with the notification of the judicial commission to probe alleged electoral rigging in Elections 2013.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had staged a prolonged protest sit-in against alleged irregularities in last general elections, which eventually resulted in the formation of a judicial commission to hold the audit of elections.

PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that if the rigging was proven then the assemblies will have to be dissolved.

The PTI sacked all its office-bearers and called for the conduct of intraparty elections soon, until then chairman Imran Khan’s nominated members will be responsible of running the party affairs.

Sources earlier reported that the party chief, Imran Khan was concerned about irregularities in the intraparty elections and distribution of party tickets during last general elections.

Voices of dissent were raised after the last intraparty elections, later claiming that the party could not achieve expected results in the Elections 2013 due to ‘favoritism’.
