PTI suspends party membership of Ziaullah Afridi

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has suspended the party membership of provincial minister Ziaullah Afridi following investigations against him in corruption cases, ARY News reported on Friday.

On directives of PTI Chairman Imran Khan an official party memo has been issued to suspend the basic party membership of Ziaullah Afridi, KP Minister for Mines and Minerals, has been suspended.

The notification issued by the party’s general secretary, Jahangir Khan Tareen today, said, “On the instructions of the chairman, the basic membership of Ziaullah Afridi, member provincial assembly from PK-1 Peshawar and minister for mines and minerals, government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is hereby suspended with immediate effect,” the notification read.

Afridi’s membership will remain suspended till decision of the corruption cases against him.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission had ordered arrest of Afridi on July 09. On July 10, he was sent on 13-day physical remand to probe allegations of abuse of authority against him, causing losses worth billions of rupees to the exchequer.
