Punjab Textbook Board Geography book shows maps of “Seraiki” and “Hazara” provinces

A geography textbook published by the Punjab Textbook Board for Class 8 shows maps of two separate provinces of Pakistan “Sarikistan” and “Hazara”, ARY News reported.

According to details, Punjab Textbook Board in the Geography textbook for class-8 printed the maps of “Seraiki” and “Hazara” provinces.

The map found in the textbook shows the Seraiki-belt to be a separate entity named as “Saraikistan” (probably meaning “Seraikistan”) and Hazara division also to be a separate province.

Sources told that so far more than 200,000 copies of the book have been dispatched to government schools across Punjab.

When identified, the concerned department suspended only two junior employees over such a blunder.

On the other hand, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed termed it a violation of the Constitution and called for a judicial inquiry of the matter.

The provincial law minister has also ordered an inquiry and vowed to punish accordingly those found responsible for it.
