Punjab allocates Rs550 bn for uplift programs in budget 2016-17

Rs550 billion has been allocated for the provincial development programmes for the financial year 2016-17.

The assembly meeting was chaired by Speaker Rana Muhammed Iqbal. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and other provincial ministers were also present on the occasion.

The finance minister said provision of education, health, agriculture, clean water were on top priority in the budget.

Presenting the budget proposals, she said Rs43 billion have been allocated for the health sector.

The minister said Rs27 billion would be spent on improvement and expansion of road infrastructure in the province.

She said that computerization of land record has been completed in 27 districts and stamp paper system is also being computerized.

Highlighting salient features of budget, the minister said over Rs46 billion have been earmarked for promotion of higher education.

Rs50 billion have been allocated for Kissan Package.
