Talking to different delegations of the overseas Pakistanis here on Tuesday, Dr Tahirul Qadri that the formation of the election commission according to Article-213, hearing of the references and the conduct of election under the Article-218 of the Constitution of Pakistan, have become inevitable for the democratic future of the country.
He said that Supreme Court’s verdict of June 8, 2012 is still awaiting its implementation for free and fair elections in the country.
Qadri said that the General Elections 2013 were not conducted constitutionally, they were rather held on the basis of discretionary powers.
He said that he had identified all these unconstitutional measures during January, 2013 long march, adding, “Had the political stake-holders heeded on my constitutional reservations, then the country would not have to go through a political crisis today”.
The PAT chief said that democracy in the European states as well as there in India, is a fruit of their independent election commission.
He said that even today the election commission in Pakistan is not working under any code or rules of procedure, nor it has any head.
