Army chief becomes first Asian to receive Brazil’s “Order of Merit” award

DG ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa tweeted: “COAS was awarded Brazil’s coveted Award “Order of Merit” in special Ceremony in recognition of his leadership for successful fight vs multiple threats.”

He said the army chief was the first Asian to have received such an honor.

Yesterday, the COAS met Chief of Joint Staff Brazil Armed Forces General Jose Carlos De Nardi in Brazil.

They discussed regional security and emerging challenges.

Matters of mutual professional interest, military-to-military relations and training exchanges were also discussed.

Mr. De Nardi hailed Pakistan Army’s professionalism and operational achievements specially in ongoing counter terrorism operations.

Earlier, General Raheel Sharif was presented a Guard of Honor and 19 guns salute when he arrived at Brazil Army Headquarters.
