Railways reduce fares up to 5 percent

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways Tuesday notified three to five percent reduction in fares of passenger trains, which will be in effect from January 18, ARY News reported.

According to details, recent reduction will not apply on Lhr-Khi Karakaram Express and privately-run Shalimar Express and Business Train.

The notification read that the fares for all classes of Allama Iqbal Express, Awam Express, Karachi Express, Millat Express, Akber Bugti Express and Jafar Express will be lowered by three percent.

Fares of all classes of Bolan Mail, Bahauddin Zakariya Express, Fareed Express, Sukkur Express will be slashed by five percent.

With the recent decrease, fares of above mentioned trains will be reduced from Rs 10 to Rs 130.

On the other hand, passengers have rejected the negligible cut in railways tariff and demanded for reduction up to twenty percent of the current rates.
