More rain lashes Punjab and upper parts of country

Drizzling in few areas of Karachi left locals with a pleasant surprise during wee hours of today.

Heavy rain lashed different parts of Punjab, including Lahore and Multan that left roads flooded with rainwater and most localities without electricity.

The locals in both the cities started their Monday on a pleasant note with cloudy sky and intermittent drizzle in different areas.

People in other parts of the province including had a great Monday in Okara, Sargodha and Rajanpur.

However, heavy rain forced flooding in rivers and streams while several areas were submerged under rainwater across the largest province.

Rawalpindi also received heavy rainfall leaving roads completely inundated with rainwater.

In some areas, three feet of rainwater entered houses and shops destroying belongings and other equipment.

Meanwhile, normal life activities remain suspended in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan after heavy rain on Monday.

Due to the latest spell of heavy rainfall, rescue work following a landslide in Skardu could not be completed even after three days, stranding several local and international tourists in the area.

The landslide hit the area of Sisi in Skardu following which moving from the area has become close to impossible due to blockade of the Karakoram Highway and constant heavy-to-moderate spells of rain in the region.

In Chitral also, early morning rain caused flooding near Ziarat due to which road leading to Peshawar has been closed.

Construction vehicles and machinery have also been washed away. Rescue and aid workers have said that they are facing difficulties in reaching flood-hit areas.
