Rangers arrest nine suspects in Karachi raids

KARACHI: Rangers arrested nine suspected criminals in raids across Karachi, ARY News reported on Thursday.

According to details, Rangers carried out raids in Landhi, Baldia and Orangi towns and apprehended nine suspected criminals which included two activists of a political party’s militant wing.

The two activists are also accused of carrying out sectarian targeted killings and were said to be involved in drug dealings.

Rangers have shifted the arrested persons to an unknown location for investigation.

Meanwhile, police arrested a Lyari gangster Adil alias Bullet affiliated with Ahmed Ali Magsi gang from Old Sabzi Mandi area. He is accused of carrying out attacks on law enforcement agencies and committing street crimes and robberies.

Moreover, police nabbed five street criminals from Rizvia police jurisdiction. Stolen mobile phones and a motorcycle were recovered from the arrested men.

The law enforcers arrested a criminal, Iqbal alias DJ, after a police encounter near Abdullah College in the jurisdiction of Noor Jehan Police Station. However, his accomplices managed to escape from the scene.

SP Basheer Brohi has said that weapons and motorcycles were seized from Iqbal. He had killed a medical store owner on 1st February, the police official said.

“The arrested suspect is involved in several cases of kidnapping, extortion, explosions and robbery. He had also kidnapped a child in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and set him free after collecting ransom from the child’s parents,” the SP added.
