Rangers, Police arrest 70 suspects in overnight raids

KARACHI: Rangers and Police have stepped up their operations against criminals in Karachi. The law enforcement agencies in overnight raids in various parts of Karachi arrested over 70 suspects and captured illegal arms from their possession, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Pramilitary Rangers conducted a raid at a building in PIB Colony and detained 20 suspects, which were transferred to undisclosed place for questioning.

Police contingents conducted raids at Saudabad and Model Colony areas of the city and arrested 45 suspects for their involvement in illegal activities.

Moreover, policemen after an encounter near Civil Hospital, arrested two robbers in injured condition.

Policemen conducted a raid in Nazimabad and arrested three suspects with a stolen motorbike.

Four more accused were arrested from Karachi’s Shah Faisal Colony-5 and Tipu Sultan area and illegal arms were recovered from their possession.
Corps Commander Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar on Friday reiterated his trust in the Pakistan Rangers and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs) leading the Karachi operation, which he said, was apolitical, indiscriminate and free of any compromise aimed at bringing the violence-hit city back to normality.

The corps commander’s Friday speech also highlighted the future course of action in the Karachi operation and invited citizens to help the LEAs in bringing lasting peace to the city.
