Rangers’ powers: Sindh warns centre against issuing threats

KARACHI: Advisor to CM on Information, Maula Baksh Chandio on Saturday evening strongly reacted to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s asking him not to threaten the provincial government, ARY News reported.

Holding a press conference, Chandio alleged the federation of making the issue of Rangers powers controversial.

In response to Nisar’s warning to bring forth Dr. Asim Hussain’s video statement recorded before a joint investigation team (JIT), he said: “Chaudhry Nisar should not threaten us with the consequences; we have faced several such consequences in the past.”

“We too have a few video statements and apology letters,” Chandio said in return.

He said that the Karachi operation will continue and culminate successfully.

“The Sindh Assembly will approve the grant of policing powers to Rangers and the matter will be resolved by Monday,” maintained the information advisor.

On the other hand, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah while addressing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that ‘with your consent some people are repeating the politics of 90s’.
