Rangers tasked to restore peace in Lyari, says Murad

He was addressing an independence day commemorative event at the People’s Sports Ground in Lyari, where he said that such celebrations are a befitting reply to those who want to spoil the peace of the area.

He urged people to celebrate such occasions openly, while they will foil all attempts by the terrorists. He also condemned that recent attack in Quetta and said that events will not weaken their resolve to fight the terrorists.

He said that previously he was disheartened to see the apathetic state of the football stadium in Lyari, but the situation of the area has considerably improved by the efforts of the law-enforcement agencies.

He vowed to bring the People’s Sports Ground stadium at par with international standards, and host a football tournament of teams from across the country. He also announced that an engineering college will be established in Lyari after the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University.

He said that the Rangers was tasked to maintain peace and law and order in Lyari. “DG Ranger Bilal Akbar recommend me to host a football match in Lyari,” he said which was heartily accepted.

While addressing the closing ceremony, Murad Ali Shah said that “I wish to play football but the sport is for youngsters.”
