Reform committee afoot to review curriculum in Sindh: minister

KARACHI: Provincial minister for education and literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that bifurcation of Education Department into two parts is the first step towards achieving our goals in education sector and distribution of work will definitely produce results.

This he said while taking to media men here in his office on Friday. He said that the important vacant posts in the department would soon fill with competent officers and agitating teachers would prepare themselves for the tests that would be conducted for recruitment of the teachers soon.

He assured that the government did not want to make anyone jobless but would not bow before any pressure.

He admitted that the prevailing curriculum needed to be reviewed and revised according to the modern needs and a Reform Committee consisting of public private educationists was going to be formed for the purpose.

He added,  ‘For the betterment of education all the stakeholders will be taken on board and comprehensive measures have been finalized that will bring good results in education sector’.

He said that for meeting the missing facilities in schools,  school specific budget was being released and the budget would be utilized through district committees to ensure transparency in budget utilization. He said that the directives had been issued to the officers not to sit in their offices but to pay regular visits to the schools / colleges to keep an eye on the performance of the teachers.
