Remarks by well-known Pakistani economist on 1965 war cause massive outrage on social media

Remarks by one of Pakistan’s foremost political economists S Akbar Zaidi (with a doctorate from the University of Cambridge, and additional degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science) on the 1965 war reported in Dawn caused controversy and outrage on social media on September 5.

Dr Zaidi said during the course of a lecture at the University of Karachi that much of what was taught in Pakistani textbooks was far from the truth and that the 1965 war an example, where, he said Pakistan had lost.

There were calls by some to even file a charge against the writer as well as the newspaper, while others disagreed and said that the time had come for people to be told the correct history. Below are some of the tweets posted on this debate.
