Role of Pak Navy in country’s defence vital: PM

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated the new building of Naval War College in Lahore, ARY News reported.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Sharif said Pak Navy is ensuring protection of sea boundaries of the country.  “Role of Pakistan Navy is pivotal in country’s defence.”

PM Sharif said that necessary resources would be marshalled towards strengthening the maritime defence of the country.

The Prime Minister said a well-equipped Navy is integral to country’s security and economic prosperity. He assured national maritime community that the Government is not oblivious to developments in the region and the urgent need to address national maritime issues.

The PM expressed pleasure that Pakistan Navy is constructing indigenous large warships and attack aircraft through revival of Karachi Shipyard.

He reiterated that the emphasis should remain on indigenous construction and joint ventures through transfer of technology. He said preparation of navy’s new building will help catering needs of Pakistan Navy.
